Everything you need for a smooth, relaxed arrival — and three great days together.
The ferry terminal is at Skeppskajen in Landskrona. Follow signs to the harbour. There is parking nearby if you're driving.
Tickets at ventrafiken.se. Buy in advance if you can — it's easier than queuing. The crossing takes around 25 minutes and the views are lovely.
Bus departures are synced with ferry arrivals, so there's no waiting around. Look for the bus with the sign Backafallsbyn.
Debit or credit card accepted on the bus. Alternatively, use the Skånetrafiken app if you already have it. Either way works fine.
You're here. Take a breath. The island is quiet and beautiful — you've made it.
The Retreat officially begins at 15:00 — but feel free to arrive from noon. Drop your instrument in the Retreat Room, say hello to whoever's already there, warm up, ask Mac a question about a song. No pressure. The afternoon is yours to settle in at your own pace.
Lunch on Day 1 is at own cost. The venue restaurant is right there if you're hungry.
If not already by the time you arrive, the bungalows are ready after 15:00 — when we're already into the first session. You can drop your bags during the fika break at 16:30, or after we finish the first session at 18:00. Either works perfectly.
If you arrive early and need somewhere to leave luggage, just ask at the reception to open the Retreat Room for you — I'm there from 11:00.
After the first Retreat session wraps at 18:00, we have some free time before dinner at 19:00. The first evening meal is at the Backafallsbyn restaurant — we always go together, and it's a lovely way to kick off the Retreat. Dinner is at our own cost this evening.
After dinner and around 20:00: short technique demos, Q&A, then I'll play a short solo concert for you only (accompanying people are also welcome) — and if the porch calls — an evening jam in the bungalows.
The structure below is your roadmap — we'll go where the music takes us.
All fika throughout the Retreat is on me. For evening meals — we always eat together as a group, so you're never on your own figuring it out.
🌅 Breakfast is served between 08:00 and 10:00 on Days 2 and 3.
Available throughout Backafallsbyn — in the venue and in all bungalows.
Password is confirmed fresh each year — I'll share it when you arrive.
Check-in after 15:00. The porch is yours — make yourself at home. Late evening jams on the porch are a Retreat tradition.
Bed linen, towels and toiletries are all provided — just bring yourself and your guitar.
You can leave your instrument safely in the Retreat Room from 12:00 on Day 1. I'll show you where it is when you arrive.
Check return times at ventrafiken.se before you leave on Day 3. The Retreat wraps around 15:00.
